A proposal for the Kuxa & BORA design contest

Kitchen concept with exposed timber roof and central island

A proposal for the Kuxa & BORA design contest

Brief

A proposal developed for the Kuxa & BORA contest, where the kitchen becomes the heart of a home opened toward nature. The plan splits across two zones: a tall service wall with open shelves, and a central island carrying the BORA cooktop that doubles as a gathering surface. [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]

Design intent

The concept looks for balance between the disciplined lines of the Kuxa cabinetry and the warmth of natural materials — light wood, mineral plaster, soft-veined stone and woven-fibre accents. Skylit volume, visible roof framing and an opening toward the garden keep human scale ahead of any single dramatic gesture. [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]

Key features

  • Central island in light stone with an integrated BORA downdraft cooktop [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]
  • Handleless Kuxa fronts in pale oak veneer with discreet side pulls [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]
  • Exposed timber roof with tie beams and recessed task lighting [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]
  • Open shelves for artisanal ceramics and a tall column housing the built-in oven [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]
  • Woven rattan pendants and natural styling that soften the mineral palette [INFERRED — Carmen confirms]
